Tattoo Shop by Dan Gold, Oxford St
For Dan Gold’s exclusive Ann Summers tattoo studio, we balanced an edgy aesthetic with critical precision. We deployed high-contrast, high-CRI track and spot lighting that cuts through the moody basement atmosphere, providing artists with flawless color accuracy and visibility.

Design targets
The figures below are the design targets set for the scheme, not measured values on site. They are the numbers the calculations, luminaire selection and control strategy were built around.
| Parameter | Target |
|---|---|
| Colour temperature (CCT) | 3000 K |
| Target illuminance | 750-1000 lx |
| Installed lighting load | 8W/m² |
Approach
Retail lighting puts the product first: high colour rendering on merchandise, ambient light held deliberately lower so the accented displays carry the room, and the window drawing people in from the street. Every scheme is checked in Dialux Evo before it is drawn, then documented as reflected ceiling plans, a luminaire schedule and a control narrative the contractor can price and install from.
